curriculum is tailored to support classroom Primary Years Programme
Units of Inquiry, and augment classroom presented science
standards. Activities students engage in while working in the
science room develope a skill set necessary for upper elementary
science classes.
Third Grade through Sixth Grade classrooms have Science as a Specialist
class. Each homeroom comes to the Science room on a two week
rotation. The curriculum is designed to introduce students to the
Science standards established for their specific grade level. The
two week unit is put together to familiarize students with specific
science concepts, skills, and processes. Class is formatted to
give the learner multiple exposures to terms, concepts, and
scientific procedures. The students experience hands on
activities to reinforce their learning, as well as multiple assessments
to measure concept mastery. Multiple tools are used to present
the material for each unit that includes but is not limited to computer
based testing, internet, and science labratory equipment.
